In at least 20 cases, a woman and two men employed by a subcontractor reportedly opened packages. The trio is now in custody.
In Korntal-Münchingen (Ludwigsburg district), police arrested three suspected thieves who allegedly stole goods from an online mail order company on a larger scale. Since early last week, parcels have been repeatedly missing from a subcontractor where the three suspects – a 27-year-old woman and two men aged 22 and 23 – were employed as drivers. The acts were noticed because many customers had complained about undelivered packages. According to initial investigations, the trio allegedly opened packages and stole the contents on at least 20 occasions.
Electronics, clothing and toiletries were found
Police arrested the suspected thieves at a hotel in Korntal-Münchingen. During the search of their rooms and the two vehicles they were using, a number of electrical equipment, clothing and hygiene items as well as other partially opened packages were found and confiscated. The exact extent of the theft and the damage caused are not yet known and are the subject of an investigation. At the request of the Stuttgart public prosecutor’s office, the three suspects were brought before a magistrate at the Stuttgart Regional Court on Saturday. This issued arrest warrants, put them into effect and admitted the suspects to prisons.
