Munich – No return to Formula E from Daniel Abt!
Double race winner and racedThe expert announced on Wednesday that he will not return to the electric racing series as a driver for the family racing team in 2023. The relevant speculations arose last week as a result of a press release from Abt.
On 29 July, Abt had confirmed Mahindra as the engine partner for the return to Formula E. A photo of the nose of a vehicle of a Gen3 car, which carried the starting number 66, was sent with the corresponding press release. Daniel Abt drove in Formula E with this initial number from 2014 to 2020.
On Wednesday, the 29-year-old tweeted: “I understand that Abt Motorsport issued a press release without my consent late last week showing my number on their car. This is incorrect and I have not allowed them to use my Number for 2023. I will not drive for Abt in Formula E next season.”
Piastri style tweet
What at first glance seems like a surprisingly harsh turn on the family racing team, however, has an amusing twist.
Because young driver Oscar Piastri reacted almost verbatim to a message from Formula 1 team Alpine on Tuesday, in which the Australian was announced as a regular driver for the 2023 season.
