In July, for example, Florian Jodl left, who worked at Zalando for ten years and was most recently General Manager of the DACH region.

There are many reasons for this restructuring. The stock has lost two-thirds of its value since the start of the year. In addition, sales are declining. While the company still benefited heavily from the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, it was four percent lower in the second quarter of 2022 than last year.

Kate Heiny’s sustainability strategy, launched in 2019, has recently seen success. For example, Zalando published its first Corporate Digital Responsibility Report in collaboration with the federal government. Packaging now consists almost exclusively of recyclable and recyclable materials. Heiny is now leaving the company, which was founded in 2008, after about three years. The search for a successor is ongoing.
